Bear Creek Golf & Country Club is a Private 18 hole golf course located in Murrieta, California.
Bear Creek Golf & Country Club first opened for play in 1982 The course was designed by Jack Nicklaus.
The natural terrain of rolling hills, four streams and two lakes presented a perfect site on which to place a golf course. Little of the natural terrain was disturbed and minimal grading was required. Special attention was given to the 200-year-old oak trees that dot the course. These very large oak trees on the sides of the fairways can block approach shots.
The Bear Creek Golf & Country Club course is very demanding with water hazards on most holes along with very deep sand bunkers. In fact, some of the sand bunkers have stairs that you must use to get in and out. The greens are fast, large, and vary in undulation. There is a creek that runs through the course and crosses in front of many greens. The creek is generally dry in the summer. There are many blind approach shots on this course.
Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to 7,002 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,230 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 9, a par-5 that plays to 547 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 6, a par-3 that plays to 132 yards from the back tees.
Watch out for # 4, a 414 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 16, a 210 yard par-3.
Hole #12, a 210 yard (back tees) 156-yard (white tees), par 3, features some dangerous pot bunkers. This hole shares a double green with hole #9.

Excellent course design and well maintained. This is the home course for Tom Pernice and Ricki Fowler. Second stage Q School played here in 2010. Deep rough makes fairway play essential.

15-20 years ago, Bear Creek was clearly among the best in the area. Fairways seemed to have crabgrass, with the exception of their signature hole #4. Greens were great! layout was great!
